Ibori’s Conviction Proves Niger-Delta Gets Too Much Money At Expense of North-Junaid Mohammed

The Coalition of Northern Leaders, academics, professionals and businessmen, has described the conviction and sentencing of former Governor of Delta State, James Ibori, to 13 years in UK prison for money laundering, as a proof of their view that the oil-producing states of the Niger Delta are getting more revenue than they have the capacity to manage.
But the Coalition of Northern Leaders were however silent on the case of Abba Abacha who is serving a prison term in Switzerland after being convicted of laundering over $ 450 million dollars which is about ten times amount Ibori was accused of stealing. They were equally silent on the $ 12.4 billion Gulf War oil windfall which was frittered awa by Gen. Ibrahim Babangida. They also apparently forgot about ex governor of Jigawa who is facing trial in Nigeria for stealing 30 billion from his state which is one of the poorest states in Nigeria.
